View Art & Technology Artist-in-Residence, George Rahi’s sound installation at New Media Gallery. George explores the relationship between culture and place, drawing inspiration from both New Media Gallery and the City of New Westminster to create an immersive sound installation. Responding to the dynamic interplay between the city and the Fraser River, he translates these connections into experiential events within the gallery. Encounter automated musical devices striking strings and chimes, working together to build a layered, orchestral soundscape.
George Rahi is an interdisciplinary artist based in Vancouver, unceded Coast Salish territories. He works with experimental instruments and technologies as a method of exploring acoustic and digital anomalies, modes of listening, and spatial and architectural thinking. His work includes installations, instrument making, composition, solo + ensemble performance, and works for radio, theatre & public spaces.
